Application Steps
- Optional CPT internship course
- Submit CPT application materials to the school’s Designated School Office (DSO): Offer Letter, Employer CPT Authorization Form, etc.
- CPT was approved, the student received a new I-20, and began working according to the CPT start date on the I-20.
- CPT authorization is renewed annually as required by the school.
Application materials
New Student Application Materials: Please submit the following materials to the International Student Services Center :
- CPT Application Form
- CPT Employer-Student Agreement Form
- Offer letter from potential employer
- Latest personal resume
Required materials for current students : Submit the same materials listed above to the Career Services Center: careers@gbc.edu
CPT Application Deadline : There is no fixed deadline for CPT applications. However, if you plan to start CPT concurrently with your course, it is recommended that you apply at least two weeks before the course begins. Processing time is typically 10 business days, but may be faster depending on the volume of applications.
CPT and Internship Credit Requirements
- Internship Credits: Students who receive CPT approval will have 1 credit added to their semester schedule for an internship course.
- To obtain a grade for the internship course, students must:

- Ensure that the employer evaluation form is completed by the student’s direct supervisor and submitted directly to the Office of Academic Affairs.
